Drones & Rabbits in Shannon’s Labyrinth

A performative game with anti-game mechanics, played in June 2022 in the former ticket hall of Otto Wagner’s Postsparkasse in Vienna, which became Shannon’s labyrinth for the occasion. Drones and white rabbits move through the glass hall, and the play sits between a board game and situated, artistic play spread through the room.

2022 Games Table

People around a round table play a board game in a bright indoor space with chairs and surrounding onlookers.

The piece is about appropriation: subversive play with technology as a form of art. Staged as an interlude in the first year of Experimental Game Cultures, it blurs whether we are playing seriously, training an AI, or being played by the game.

I made the laser-cut wooden board. The game design came from the students and the Experimental Game Cultures team, together.
